‘ASHES FEVER’ helps create unique opportunity for local Cricket.

The West of England Premier Cricket League is set to benefit from the success of the English Cricket team during the Ashes and recent Indian series. The League has been ‘bowled over’ by a new £10,000 per annum sponsorship deal with sports clothing company North Gear in a unique partnership in club cricket.

North Gear is rapidly establishing itself as the match clothing of choice for professional cricketers and has worked for two years developing their range with Somerset County Cricketers, which will also be worn in 2006 by Kent and Northamptonshire.

North Gear CEO Kim Williams, said he was delighted to become the sponsor for the West of England Premier League and that 70 clubs within the league will see the benefit of this innovative partnership: “As a dynamic company we believe that exposure in connection with other Companies is the future for League Cricket. One thing is the product placement we expect from this sponsorship, but do not forget that this is about developing Cricket and giving young people the chance to play the game. I think this should be kept in mind while signing sponsorships within League Cricket. We will be working closely with Cliff Moss in trying to secure other Companies/Individuals who might be interested in becoming one of the League’s main shirt sponsors. Many Companies have an interest in Cricket and have an interest in developing their business within the League’s geographic area”.
